Falling Away

I took this three nights ago while I was messing with HDR.

Our cold weather yesterday must have finally told my Maples to drop their leaves.

No Real Than You Are

A Giant Lego Man Has Been Washing Up on Different Country's Beaches...

His name is Ego Leonard and he's 8-feet tall and weighs in at 100 lbs

Photo: Jeff Hindman

Four years ago one washed ashore in Zandvoort, Holland, and then in 2008 Brighton, England. And the most recent(picture above) on the shores of Siesta Key Beach in Florida..

A search on Google will eventually take you to this website:

I for one would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new plastic overlords .

Warhol-esque

Recently I had the pleasure of taking on a very unique and fun project. My client wanted some Andy Warhol type prints made of his own children:
First I took pictures of his kids, then I converted them to digital art:

Once approved I then converted them to screens, so I could screen print them in an Andy Warhol style:
After printing the outline, I hand painted them, to fill in the colors:
 Here is an outline print:
 Color fill:
 After printing and painting:
Finished product: I then stretched the canvas over frames:

Finished, hung on client's wall:(Please forgive the sun glare)

An Amazing Time-Lapse Video

This was all shot by farmer and photographer Randy Halverson

"For the month of May I shot Milky Way timelapse in central South Dakota, when I had the time, and the weather cooperated. The biggest challenge was cloudy nights and the wind. There were very few nights, when I could shoot, that were perfectly clear, and often the wind was blowing 25mph +. That made it hard to get the shots I wanted. I kept most of the shots low to the ground, so the wind wouldn't catch the setup and cause camera shake, or blow it over. I used a Stage Zero Dolly on the dolly shots and a "Milapse" mount on the panning ones.

Canon 60D and T2i
Tokina 11-16
Sigma 20mm F1.8
Tamron 17-50

Dynamic Perception Stage Zero Dolly dynamicperception.com

Shot in RAW format, the Milky Way shots were 30 seconds exposure F2.8 or F1.8 with 2 second interval between shots, for 3-4 hours run time. ISO 1600

Ten seconds of the video is about 2 hours 20 minutes in real time.

Simon Wilkinson from thebluemask.com created the soundtrack "Exodus" for the video"

American Pickers

Today at the Isle of Capri in Waterloo there was a meet and greet with the American Pickers. I'm a fan of the show.. And so is my Dad. So we went.

I really had no idea how the casino would be about taking cameras in.. So I thought Just in case.. I will see if I can find their van outside and take pictures of it... I drove back by the delivery area..Thinking maybe they would park there to unload... Nope. While we were walking in I spotted it WAY off in the distance in the middle of nowhere in a side lot.

Once we got inside they announced where the line would be forming. I think we got lucky because we were 20 feet from the line entry. Besides the people that knew where it was already and had already been waiting we got a semi-decent spot in line. Once Mike and Danielle showed up at 3(right on time) and the line started moving. It took about 45 minutes to get to them.

They both acted as if they were your next door neighbor... Very cheerful, happy to pose for pics with people, signing whatever people handed to them... They seemed just as genuine and friendly  in person as they are on the show...

Dubuque Mini Adventure

Yesterday was one of the first decent days we have had here in Iowa this year. It got up to a balmy 60 degrees! This years Spring has felt more like extended Winter. I decided to go to Dubuque and do some exploring. First stop was the Mines Of Spain.

The area is high up, along the Mississippi River valley... It had some great views.

I took this one in a field behind Crystal Lake Cave.

Next it was time to head into Dubuque, downtown along the Mississippi River Walk.
